What is your door doing?

  • It will not lock

The handle will not lift, or the key will not turn. Usually a dropped door or a worn multipoint lock.

  • Floppy handle or the key spins

A broken spring, cam or gearbox. We replace the failed part, not the whole door.

  • It catches or lets in draughts

Worn hinges or keeps out of adjustment. We rehang the door and set it tight to its seals.

Do not force a stiff handle. Forcing it is the usual way a gearbox breaks, and a door that fails while locked has to be opened before it can be repaired.

  • We rang Power Lock & Security when we discovered that we had lost both keys for our summerhouse. Their communications were excellent. They arrived at the agreed time and within 15 minutes the door had been opened the lock changed, and we were presented with 5 keys. If you want speedy service and quality work, look no further.

  • I absolutely recommend Power Lock & Security. Liam provided a great service, took the time and extra care to make sure our new door buzzer worked properly whilst ensuring we were happy with the buzzer and handset speaker volume at both ends. 5 stars!

  • We've had Liam out twice now. Both times were almost emergencies. He was prompt, efficient, and very reasonably priced. The second visit was ongoing issues with two different doors, which he diagnosed and sorted in no time at all! Highly recommend

  • From changing locks, getting new handles, making internal doors easier to close, and sorting issues with sticky tilt and turn windows, Power Lock & Security was great to deal with. Prompt responses, good advice, speedy and high quality work.

  • The 'phone was answered promptly by Liam, always a good start!

Sean attended, identified the problem, ordered the part & returned a day later to fit.

He fitted the new multipoint system & checked to ensure everything was just right, then cleaned up meticulously.

    A professional service.

Best of all, the labour/call out charge! Not greedy. Very reasonable & fair. Thank you!

FAQs

Common questions

Need help now? Phone 0131 358 9585.

My uPVC door will not lock. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes. The cause is usually a dropped door or a worn part in the multipoint lock. Both can be put right without a new door.

Why has my door handle gone floppy?

A spring has broken, either in the handle or in the gearbox of the lock. We check which before replacing anything.

Can you match my existing multipoint lock?

Usually. We measure the lock, including the backset (the distance from the door edge to the centre of the cylinder), and order a matching mechanism.

Do I need a new door?

Not usually, for a lock fault. A new door is only worth looking at if the frame or the door itself is damaged.
